A restaurant or shop does not need a big budget to be found. It needs the same few things done well, every month. This plan works for a restaurant, a bakery, a clothing shop or a salon in Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode or anywhere else in Tamil Nadu.
1. Fix your Google listing first
Most people look you up on Google Maps before they visit. Check that your name, address, phone number and opening hours are correct, and add real photos of your food, shop and team. Reply to every review.
2. Make it easy to message you
Put one WhatsApp number on your Google listing, Instagram bio and board. Reply fast, and set a short greeting that tells people what you offer. Many customers would rather ask a quick question than call.
3. Post about what customers see
- Photos or short videos of your best-selling dishes or products.
- Behind the scenes: the kitchen, the cutting table, the new stock arriving.
- Festival greetings and special days, in English or Tamil.
- A "today's special" or "new arrival" post once or twice a week.
4. Show real people
With their permission, show your staff, your regular customers and your work. People trust a face more than a poster.
5. Keep a simple monthly calendar
List the posts for the month, including festivals and local events, and keep a short list of photos to take. A calendar saves you from deciding at the last minute.
6. Use ads carefully
Start with one small, clear ad: for example, a Meta ad that opens a WhatsApp chat, shown to people near your shop. Check how many chats you get and how many visit or order, and then decide whether to continue.
7. Check what worked
Once a month, note which posts brought messages, calls or visits. Do more of those.
Questions, answered.
- How often should a restaurant post on Instagram?
- A steady rhythm you can keep up matters more than posting every day. Two to four posts a week is a reasonable start for many small businesses.
- Do I need ads to get customers?
- Not always. A good Google listing, a WhatsApp number and regular posts can bring customers. Ads can add to that once the basics are in place.
- Should I post in Tamil or English?
- Use the language your customers use. Many businesses mix both.
